According to Om Malik of GigaOm, Instagram is close to unveiling a new private messaging feature into its photo-sharing app. The new feature is reportedly close to launch and Instagram is also exploring the potential for a group messaging feature. Messaging should be available in the app’s next update, which is expected before the end of the year, according to GigaOm.
So how do I feel about this upcoming feature? Fine, I guess. But I’m slightly disappointed because private or group messaging isn’t as an important update to me as would be the ability to allow links to or with photo comments which is currently not possible.
In all candor, I’m actually not even certain what value private or group messaging can or will bring to Instagram but am willing to go with the flow as the feature unfolds …
